Thanks for stopping by Plays Well Alone, featuring art by Lisa Casperson of Asheville, North Carolina.
I play well with others, too, but being an introvert, I must have alone time or I'm just no good to anyone else or myself.
What attracts each of us to a piece of art is utterly personal; nobody wants to gaze at something they find displeasing! I am an innate artist by compulsion to create, which does not mean that I am ever going to be famous, but I enjoy creating so much, I believe that joy generally emanates out in my work and perches onto those who are attracted to it. Any piece of art you purchase, when hanging in your personal space, should bring a momentary connection each time you lay eyes on it.
My training comes through workshops and a for some years I had a mentor. I'm on my own now...which is both terrifying and freeing. The original idea in my head may or may not be anything like what I produce and initially I am usually disappointed. After a period of time it often looks better, maybe even good!
Some works I love and want to keep, yet after a few years, I am ready to let them go.
Each painting has it's own story. Where the idea came from. The process and feelings during the creation of the piece.
